Absolute Analysis
Investigator™ offers a complete range
of Serial Front Panel Data Port (sFPDP) test solutions supporting
the VITA 17.1 and new VITA 17.2 specifications. Standard link
speeds up to 6.5Gbps and non-standard link speeds up to 10Gbps
are available. All sFPDP network topologies are supported and
sFPDP optional parameters can be enabled or disabled under user
control. A full range of connections to the network are provided
including both copper and optical solutions.
Investigator’s sFPDP tools are completely integrated with all
other Investigator™ solutions to form a flexible, unified, scalable,
and upgradeable architecture facilitating multi-protocol testing
across devices bridging sFPDP and other protocols.

Serial FPDP Solutions Overview
Datasheet
sFPDP Protocol Analyzer
The Investigator™ sFPDP Protocol Analyzer captures and displays 100%
of link data, even at full line rates. Views of SWDV and STOP/GO
flow control primitives, as well as frame delimiters, frame
header, and payload data are provided. The
Protocol Database Editor
allows the user to define additional decoding of the sFPDP frame
to enhance the existing functions. Deep bit-level triggering
and pre-filtering/post-filtering capabilities ensure that
relevant data can be extracted from multi-gigabit data streams.
sFPDP Protocol Editor
Several users have implemented sFPDP as a point-to-point
network to allow two devices to communicate together using a
user-defined protocol. The Protocol Database Editor allows the
Protocol Analyzer’s standard database to be expanded to support
user-defined protocols. Once part of the database a user-defined
protocol can be used as a filter or can trigger scenarios in
addition to being fully decoded in the trace viewer. Other features
such as post-capture filtering are fully available as if the
protocol was part of the standard AAI Protocol Analyzer database.
sFPDP Traffic Generator
The Investigator™ sFPDP Traffic Generator allows
you to generate sFPDP traffic into a Device Under Test (DUT) with complete control
over the timing and content of the data. Valid and invalid traffic
streams can be defined to test device error recovery. The traffic
generator’s ability to maintain full-line rate traffic, even
across multiple links, allows device performance to be measured
and operation under stress to be characterized.
sFPDP Impairment Tester
The sFPDP Impairment tester simulates the delay caused by
long cable runs without the inconvenience and cost of testing
using multiple lengths of actual cable. Using the Impairment
Tester allows the effects of latency on application performance
and flow control to be measured.
sFPDP Bit Error Rate Tester
The sFPDP Bit Error Rate Tester (BERT) allows the user to
send both framed and unframed bit error rate test patterns through
a sFPDP link to test its ability to reliably transport data
between the transmitter and the receiver. Several standard test
patterns are available and user-defined test patterns are supported.
sFPDP Network Connections
The sFPDP physical layer is based upon the ANSI Fibre Channel
standard that specifies a choice of multiple physical layer
options. The Investigator platform supports Small Form Factor
Pluggable modules (SFP’s) to allow the user to easily switch
between these physical layers. Passive optical taps are also
available where the circumstances dictate that the insertion
of the test tool cannot disrupt the network traffic (Protocol
Analysis only.)
sFPDP API Library
The sFPDP API Library is a C API that provides the user
with programmatic control over all the Investigator tools. Using
the API Library, the user can write custom applications that
function over the platform or create code for test automation.
sFPDP Platforms and Configurations
Investigator™ sFPDP solutions are available in several platforms, from notebooks to high port count rack mounts.
